Artist and Career Goals

Hello! Welcome to my first blog post on Bable Paper Co. I hope you like the new updates that I have been working on. I am writing this post to discuss something I have been thinking about again lately. It is something that I have continually thought about over the past eight years or so.

Two things that people typically do not associate are “Artist” and “Career.” Many people struggle to find a work, life, and art balance. I am no exception. I think one of my issues is that I have so many ideas for creative endeavors and so many skills I want to use all the time. Niching down is a very hard concept for me. Some people will look at all the things I am doing and think I have overstretched myself. I've asked myself, how can I do anything well or consistently if I am pursuing so many different avenues. (I have enough on this list to fill several lifetimes)

The following list of ideas are things that fun through my head on a fairly regular basis (in no particular order):

  • Artist Village and Cultural Center
  • Full-Time Artist
  • Illustrating Children’s Books
  • Greeting Card Designer
  • Art Conservator
  • Curator
  • Museum Director
  • Vintage Shop Owner
  • Coin Designer
  • Gluten Free Food Taste Tester
  • Food Show Host
  • Have a Private Island That is Fully Sustainable
  • Finish my Masters in Museum Studies
  • Interior Designer
  • Architect
  • Mafia Wife (wear fur everyday)
  • Online Art Teacher
  • Real Estate Mogel
  • Textile Designer
  • Conference Coordinator
  • Write Gluten-Free Cookbooks and Blog
  • Photographer
  • Alpaca Farmer
  • Travel the US in a tiny house

So right now, starting today. I am going to narrow my goals and projects down to something manageable. This list will be restructured with an order and things will get eliminated to make my dreams attainable! I am also going to divide my list into short and long-term goals.

Short Term (1-3 years):

  1. Finish my Masters in Museum Studies
  2. Continue Painting and Making Greeting Cards (Up Frequency)
  3. Finish Children's book's
  4. Work on Developing Blogs and Brands
  5. Write Gluten-Free Cookbooks and Blog
  6. Continue Research and Pursuing Artist Village
  7. Film Art Classes for Skillshare

Long Term (10 years):

  1. Fulltime Artist
  2. Museum Curator/Director
  3. Start Artist Village

The Future(Somewhere in the Distance, Who Knows):

  • Textile Designer
  • Travel US in a tiny house
  • Real estate mogul
  • Vintage Shop Owner
  • Gluten Free Food Taste Tester
  • Food Show Host
  • Have a Private Island that is Fully Sustainable(How would I acquire an island?)
  • Interior Designer
  • Art Conservator
  • Mafia Wife
  • Conference Coordinator
  • Architect
  • Alpaca Farmer
  • Coin Designer
  • Mafia Wife
So, as you can see, I have really narrowed and defined my list of goals. I made a point of giving myself enough time to pursue reasonable goals while prioritizing the goals that appeal and seem the most cost and time efficient. Heres hoping this will keep me on track. Some of the longer term goals will hopefully tie into each other in the future.

Until next week, I plan to have a lot more of my Greeting Cards photographed and on my etsy shop by the time I have my next post up! #goals
